• When an individual works to befriend or gain the trust of a child as a step towards a sexual relationship or the performance of a sex act with them.
• When those who hold extremist views try to recruit others into terrorism and acts of violent extremism.
• When a parent tries to convince agencies that they are cooperating, but only as a cover for abuse that they, or someone else are perpetrating.
• Criminal exploitation that involves recruiting young people into gang related criminal behaviour; usually related to drug dealing.
• A criminal act that is, or is perceived to be motivated by prejudice based on a protected characteristic.
• When an adult involved in a regulated activity engages in sexual activity (including consensual activity) with a child.
