Designated Safeguarding Lead

Understanding your statutory role & your duties.

We are experts around the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead. Paul was the Designated Lead for the Sure Start programme managing eight teams across the locality he worked in. He worked with Children Social Care with cases that needed stepping up as well and has an understanding of the difficulties when referring cases in to Social Care

As a DSL you must be able to understand :

• Safeguarding and abuse,
• how to respond appropriately to concerns of allegations of abuse
• how to support staff and volunteers in the discharge of their duties,
• how to work confidently and competently with local statutory services,
• the importance of effective systems,
• the importance of culture managing concerns and referrals etc
