Framework of assessment

We have already introduced the framework for the assessment of children in need and their families, but it is worth mentioning it again here.

The framework is helpful in various ways. For example, it can help us when trying to move from the ‘gut feeling’ that something is not right to a clearly identified concern. It can also help those of us who lack curiosity or if we want to make sure we are not missing anything.

Working together to safeguard children

Working together to safeguard children is the guidance that outlines how different agencies should be working together to safeguard effectively. We know from experience that partnership working is critical to effective safeguarding. Working together to safeguard children provides a framework in which we as a setting can play our part with all of our local partners including the local authority, health services, police and probation services, schools and other settings, voluntary sector organisations ect.

Keeping children safe in education

The guidance from the Department of Education outlines best practice standards for safeguarding in education settings. It is particularly helpful in understanding current themes and ‘hot topics.’
