Our role in identifying and responding to abuse
Our day to day tasks:
- Be vigilant
- Record and report concerns to our DSL
- Building a picture
- Analysis of information: “what is life like for this child?”
Where we have concerns:
- We do NOT investigate abuse
- Recognising and identifying
- Proof and evidence
- Reasonable grounds to believe the child may be experiencing abuse
- Requesting an investigation
Investigating and clarifying questions
- We need clarity
- What is a clarifying question?
- We do not:
- Ask about anything the child has not mentioned
- Ask any leading questions
- Keep on asking when we have enough information
