Discovering Abuse
Abuse can come to light in many different ways. For example:
- The child may disclose what is happening
- The parent may disclose what is happening
- The child’s friend may disclose what is happening
- You may see something that concerns you such as an unexplained mark or sudden change in behaviour
- The child might say or do something that might indicate that they have been abused, such as play, drawing or speaking about something that you would not expect them to know about at that age / developmental stage
We can discover or suspect abuse at any time and anywhere.
